World War II honor portrait of veteran Arthur J. Platt, former student of The State University of New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry.

Sketch: Lieutenant Platt left college at the NYS College of Forestry after three semesters to enter the Army Air Force early in 1942. He trained at Jackson, MS and at Miami, FL where he qualified as a navigator. He was assigned to the Central Pacific sector where he took part in the Battle of Midway, in which action he was cited for conspicuous gallantry. He later was transferred to the South Pacific sector where he was killed while on a combat mission.
